Seek 'Seeking Persephone'

Back:5068983_seeking_persephone_detail
When Persephone Lancaster receives a marriage proposal from the ill-tempered Duke of Kielder, she refuses--and then reconsiders. The obscene sum of money he's offering Persephone would save her family from ruin. With her characteristic optimism, she travels to the far reaches of Northumberland to wed a greatly feared stranger.

Lodged deep in a thick forest infested with wild dogs, the Duke's castle is as cold and forbidding as the Duke himself, a man with terrible scars on his body and his soul. But the Duke's steely determination to protect his heart at all costs is challenged by his growing attachment to his lovely and gentle bride. With caring persistence, Persephone attempts to pierce the Duke's armor and reach the man beneath. Yet he cannot tolerate such exposure, and his repeated rejections take their toll. But when grave danger arises, the Duke realizes he must face the risk of revealing his true feelings or lose the woman he cannot live without.

Check out more of Sarah M. Eden's fanciness at her blog: Sarah M. Eden

C: Sarah M. Eden is a reincarnation, as a writer, of Jane Austen. Seeking Persephone is a regency filled with romance. I found myself getting involved, maybe a little too involved, in my head. I felt like throttling the Mother ever time she came into my mind (when she made an appearance in the story). I was laughing and smiling along with Harry. I wanted to shake some sense into Persephone and the Duke so they would stop assuming and figure out the truth. I was relieved when it seemed they had a chance and frustrated when it was ruined. Is the Duke losing his mind or finding his heart? I do know, I was losing my mind reading this 'out of my mind' (in a good way ;)) book!

M: A fantastic read! Eden's witty dialogue, and varied cast of characters kept me engrossed in this charming tale. The Duke reminded me a lot of Beast from the classic fairytale Beauty and the Beast.  I laughed, I sighed, I even teared up a couple times. I really felt for Persephone and how her tale matched her namesake's, with lots of twists and adventures all her own. Fall in love with the Regency period all over again as Eden draws you deep into the failings and joys of the human heart.

N: If you love romance and adventure and have nothing good to read, give Seeking Persephone a try. I was immediately hooked from the very first sentence. I love Adams dry humor yet at the same time his kind heart. This book really showed the way simple things can change people. I really enjoyed reading this book and think Sarah M. Eden shows the relationship between beauty and beast very well.

  1. It reminded me of Beauty and the Beast but it wasn't a Beauty and a Beast story, in my opinion. It had its own story.

The book was amazing! I loved it!
